HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

Brainspotting Therapy in Virginia Beach

Brainspotting is a unique type of therapy where we find specific points in your field of vision that help access and heal emotional and psychological issues. It's based on the idea that where you look affects how you feel. By identifying these 'brainspots', we can work through deep emotional challenges, especially those that might not have responded to regular talk therapy.

STEP BEYOND TRADITIONAL THERAPY WITH BRAINSPOTTING

Why Brainspotting Therapy?

Are you feeling trapped by the weight of past traumas, or overwhelmed by emotions that seem too intense to handle? It’s not just you—many struggle with these deep-seated emotional issues, often feeling stuck or misunderstood. These feelings can create a sense of helplessness, as if you’re constantly reliving your most challenging moments without a way out. Traditional therapy might not have provided the relief you need, leaving you searching for a more effective solution.

A primary goal of therapy, particularly brainspotting, is to help you move from a state of dysregulation to regulation. For therapy to be successful in the long-term, your brain and body need to regain the capacity for regulation, which is what happens through the brainspotting process.

This is where brainspotting therapy can make a real difference. It offers a unique approach to tap into and heal these emotional pains, connecting your mind and body in a way that brings profound healing. And now, you have the opportunity to explore this transformative path. Book a free consultation with But First, Heal Thyself Counseling, and start on a journey towards a more peaceful, empowered you. Let's unlock the door to your healing together.

How Does Brainspotting Work?

UNLOCK THE POWER OF MIND-BODY CONNECTION

Traditional therapy often operates through processing within your prefrontal cortex (the thinking part of the brain). In order to regain the capacity for regulation, we have to bypass the thinking part of the brain and access the parts of the brain that are involved in regulation of the body and the brain.

We also have to retrain the brain and nervous system in order to effectively distinguish between perceived threats and actual threats to safety. Brainspotting accesses the necessary parts of the brain in order to reprocess and reintegrate events, experiences, and emotions in order to more effectively facilitate healing.

The positive changes from brainspotting can affect every part of your life, improving your ability to handle emotions, making your thinking clearer, and helping you feel more peaceful and well. With brainspotting, you're not just getting past your problems; you're moving towards a more satisfying, balanced, and strong version of yourself.

Common Questions about Brainspotting

  • Is brainspotting therapy legitimate?

Yes! Brainspotting is widely known and is considered a legitimate and evidence-based approach to therapy.

  • How successful is brainspotting?

Brainspotting works really well compared to other therapies like EMDR and CBT. The cool part? People who get Brainspotting treatment keep getting better even after their sessions are over. This is different from other therapies, where some people's problems might come back after six months. We still need more studies, but so far, Brainspotting looks like it could be a really effective way to help with mental health issues.

  • How many sessions of brainspotting do you need?

it really depends on the person. Some might see a difference after just one session. But usually, you'll start noticing changes and improvements within four to six sessions, though continued treatment is recommended. It's pretty individual, so the number of sessions varies from person to person.

I’m grateful to have been working with Erin as she conducts brainspotting sessions with me. This treatment style has been very helpful in allowing me to work through past hurts and through current personal issues. The way Erin is able to tune into my feelings is great.
